The short answer: to show up on Google, your plumbing business needs a fully optimized Google Business Profile, identical name/address/phone everywhere online, and a steady stream of recent reviews. That combination is what lands you in the local "map pack" — the top three results where 68% of clicks go.
1. Claim and complete your Google Business Profile
This is the single biggest factor for local visibility. Go to Google Business Profile, claim your listing, and fill in every field: business name, primary category ("Plumber"), every service you offer, service areas, hours, and phone number. Incomplete profiles simply do not rank.
2. Add your services and service-area cities
Google can only rank you for services it knows you offer. List drain cleaning, water heater repair, leak detection, repiping — each one. Add the cities and neighborhoods you serve so you appear for "plumber near me" across your whole area.
3. Get reviews — and reply to them
Reviews are a top-three ranking signal. Ask every happy customer for one, ideally right after the job. Aim to consistently out-review the competitor above you, and reply to every review — Google rewards active profiles.
4. Post weekly and add photos
Profiles that post updates and add fresh job photos outrank stale ones. A quick weekly post about a recent job keeps your listing active in Google's eyes.
5. Keep your NAP identical everywhere
Your Name, Address, and Phone must match exactly across your website, Google, Yelp, and directories. Inconsistencies make Google trust you less and can drop your ranking.
Do these five things consistently and you will typically see movement within 2–4 weeks. If you would rather not manage it yourself, that is exactly what we do — book a free visibility audit and we will show you where you stand versus your top local competitors.
